National H-index Ranking is already in Armenia!
The National H-index Ranking – is an independent international ranking aimed at assessing the scientific productivity and impact of research organisations, universities and research institutions. It is formed on the basis of the consolidated Hirsch index in Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. Previously, this ranking evaluated scientific activities in nine countries. However, we are now pleased to announce that the development team is launching a regional ranking for Armenia.
Goal and objectives of the Armenian National H-index Ranking
The main goal of the Armenian National H-index Ranking is to support the development of science in Armenia and create conditions for the integration of scientists into the global scientific space. The launch of this ranking allows scientific institutions in Armenia to compare their achievements with international standards. This, in turn, contributes to improving the quality of scientific research, enhancing the visibility of Armenian science on the global stage and attracting international partners for cooperation.
The ranking fulfils several key tasks:
- Operational tracking of scientometric indicators for scientists and research organisations in Armenia.
- Facilitating the integration of Armenian scientists into the international scientific space.
- Increasing the visibility of Armenian science in the international arena.
- Improving the quality of research and increasing scientific productivity in Armenia.
- Strengthening international cooperation in science and technology.
Features of the ranking methodology
The Armenian National H-index Ranking will be updated once a year – in November. This approach allows taking into account the latest data on the scientific activities of Armenian universities and research institutions.
The ranking methodology is based on the calculation of the consolidated Hirsch index for scientists and organisations, which allows determining their progress based on international databases, namely Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. Taking into account both the number of publications and their citations by other researchers, the Hirsch index provides an objective assessment of the impact of a researcher or institution.
